Earlier this month I went to Universal Studios with my sister and my daughter for the first time since December 2019. We went for the Taste of Universal and I was so excited to be back and trying new foods, even if we couldn’t go on any rides. We went on a Friday because we both had the day off. this was my first time taking my daughter to a theme park since the pandemic started.
I live about 20-30 minutes away from Universal Studios. I normally go about once a year, usually around Christmas time because who doesn’t like seeing theme parks decorated all Christmas like! The ticket for this event was $45 and that included both the admission and 5 choices of food.
The number one thing that I HAD to get was the butterbeer from the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. There are three ways to order it- frozen, hot, or regular. My favorite way to get it is frozen. I also went to the new Minions Cafe which I highly recommend. I think everything I picked was pretty good and I wouldn’t mind getting them again.
Some pictures of my daughter and me at Universal Studios.
Here are the five things I got with my tasting card and a couple things I bought.
Frozen butterbeer, 100% recommendChicken nuggets for my picky daughterChicken nachos for my sister, she enjoyed it. Chicken Macaroni and cheese with bacon and ranch. This was so good! I would definitely eat this again if they had it. This was pretty good, even my picky daughter liked it. I wouldn’t eat the eye though. My sister’s Korean corn dog. She said it was good, but wouldn’t get it again.
Of course we also had to the the big pink donut from Springfield. My daughter was looking forward to this since she loves donuts. She was so happy for the “big pink donut”. I also recommend this. this donut still tasted good the next day.Wasn’t sure how I would feel about this clam chowder, but it was very good! I ate the whole thing. My sister’s burger from Krusty Burger. Typical burger, I wouldn’t get it.
One of my favorite events to go to every year is the Boysenberry Festival at Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park, California. I have been going every year since it first started, with the exception of 2020 of course. This year it was renamed as Knott’s Taste of Boysenberry. Knott’s Berry Farm is known for their boysenberries and I am such a huge fan! What is a boysenberry? It is a berry that is a hybrid of: raspberry, blackberry, dewberry, and loganberry.
I took three of my sisters to the Taste of Boysenberry. (Please excuse the poor quality of my phone’s camera)
For those who have never been to a tasting event at Knott’s Berry far, here’s how it works. You buy a tasting card for each person that’s going to the event. They are $45 for adults (12+) and $25 for kids (3-11), with a slight discount for season passholders. The tasting cards work as a ticket to the event and with the tasting card, each adult gets 5 tastings of their choice and children get 3 tastings of their choice.
Knott’s Berry Farm always goes all out in decorating their theme park for every holiday and this year was no exception. We went a few weeks before Easter and it was decorated with Easter things all over the park, especially Camp Snoopy, the part of the park that is dedicated to kids.
Here are some of the foods we tried. We tried to get a mix of beverages. desserts, and actual meals/food.
This was by far one of the best things that we tried. This is the carne asada pizza. One of the most popular items on the tasting card. The only thing I didn’t like was the cilantro. I would def get this again if it was offered.I have a sweet tooth and was so excited to try both of these. On the left are the churro bites and on the right are the funnel fries. Both were very good, very sweet, but my personal favorite was the funnel fries. They both came with a side of dipping sauce.
Here are a few other things we got. the top row includes (from left to right) milk tea with popping pearls, acai bowl, boysenberry smoothie, boysenberry basil lemonade, and some treats from the Knott’s Bakery (which is technically outside of the park). The bottom row includes (also from left to right) corn on the cob with boysenberry butter, boysenberry icee float, boysenberry dippin dots, a cheeseburger with boysenberry butter, and Philly cheesesteak fries. My personal favorites from these were the corn on the cob, the icee float, and the boysenberry basil lemonade.
Knott’s Berry Farm will be opening up again next month and as a season passholder, I can’t wait to go back and get on the rides. I am also looking forward to taking my 2 year old daughter with me to Camp Snoopy in a few months.
So many people are so addicted to their phones. To them, their phone is essential. They can’t be without their phones. There are people who use their phone for 8+ hours a day! I admit that sometimes I spend too much time on my phone, either using social media or texting or just browsing on YouTube.
If you feel like you need to cut back on using your phone, then this is for you.
Set a limit on what time you can use your phone. For example, I stop using my phone after 8pm and on my days off, I won’t use my phone before 7am. Of course this is different for many people because our schedules are all different. The best thing to do is stop using your phone an hour before you go to sleep and don’t use your phone until you’ve been awake for an hour.
Stop using your phone while eating. So many people do this as well.
Don’t take your phone into the bathroom with you
Find a hobby that doesn’t include your phone, things like writing, reading, running, working out, gardening, the choices are endless!
Create “phone free” zones. This could be at your job or home. Just keep your phone out of sight and focus on your job, kids, or cleaning.
A few days ago, my mom told us that we will be moving soon. We have one month to find a house to move into. She got a letter in the mail saying that the owner of the house we currently live in is selling the property. That is what happened in our last home, which is how we ended up moving here. We have lived here about a year and a half now and I really like our neighborhood and city. It’s the first time that I actually really liked where we were living. I am super upset about the fact that we have to move because I really like this area, it’s close to my job and moving in general is such a hassle. Now that I have my baby it’ll be even more of a hassle for me. I have so much stuff to pack and unpack, I feel like it will take me forever to get everything ready. I will try to enjoy my last month living here in Alhambra. I think what really sucks about when we have to move is the fact that it’s basically two weeks before Christmas. I wish they would’ve at least given us until the beginning of 2020 to move out. But we need to leave by December 15th. We are still currently looking for a new home, I hope we can find one in time.
Last month, I went to the LA County Fair with Selena and the rest of my family. Even though she couldn’t do much, the rest of us had fun. We walked around, the kids got on rides, and ate some good food! I got to try rainbow grilled cheese sandwich, it was so good!
One of the things that we love about going to the LA County Fair is getting to see all the farm animals. Selena was too small to go and touch them, but the rest of us got to walk around and pet the goats. We are city kids and don’t spend much time around farm animals. My siblings would freak out every time a goat got too close to them. It was too funny.
Next year she will be 1 year and a half when we go and I am sure she will have more fun. She will probably be running around everywhere!Somehow she spent most of the time at the fair asleep.
