Knott’s Boysenberry Brunch 2023

Earlier this year, I went to the boysenberry brunch at Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park, CA. I decided to go by myself because it was pricey. It was $72 before my passholder discount.

There were so many food choices and I love boysenberry so I was excited to try all the food. The buffet came with bottomless boysenberry mimosas. I normally don’t like to drink, but this was very tasty! My favorites from the buffet were the made to order omelette, boysenberry meatballs, boysenberry mashed potatoes, and the boysenberry cheesecake.

Overall the food was good, the only things I didn’t like were the shrimp and the fried bite thing, not sure what it was. All I know is that it wasn’t very good. Knott’s Berry Farm always makes really good food for the Boysenberry Festival and this buffet was as good as I expected. I just wish I had been able to eat more, I got full pretty quickly.

Taste of Universal

Earlier this month I went to Universal Studios with my sister and my daughter for the first time since December 2019. We went for the Taste of Universal and I was so excited to be back and trying new foods, even if we couldn’t go on any rides. We went on a Friday because we both had the day off. this was my first time taking my daughter to a theme park since the pandemic started.

I live about 20-30 minutes away from Universal Studios. I normally go about once a year, usually around Christmas time because who doesn’t like seeing theme parks decorated all Christmas like! The ticket for this event was $45 and that included both the admission and 5 choices of food.

The number one thing that I HAD to get was the butterbeer from the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. There are three ways to order it- frozen, hot, or regular. My favorite way to get it is frozen. I also went to the new Minions Cafe which I highly recommend. I think everything I picked was pretty good and I wouldn’t mind getting them again.

Some pictures of my daughter and me at Universal Studios.

Here are the five things I got with my tasting card and a couple things I bought.

Frozen butterbeer, 100% recommend
Chicken nuggets for my picky daughter
Chicken nachos for my sister, she enjoyed it.
Chicken Macaroni and cheese with bacon and ranch. This was so good! I would definitely eat this again if they had it.
This was pretty good, even my picky daughter liked it. I wouldn’t eat the eye though.
My sister’s Korean corn dog. She said it was good, but wouldn’t get it again.
Wasn’t sure how I would feel about this clam chowder, but it was very good! I ate the whole thing.
My sister’s burger from Krusty Burger. Typical burger, I wouldn’t get it.

Knott’s Taste of Boysenberry

One of my favorite events to go to every year is the Boysenberry Festival at Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park, California. I have been going every year since it first started, with the exception of 2020 of course. This year it was renamed as Knott’s Taste of Boysenberry. Knott’s Berry Farm is known for their boysenberries and I am such a huge fan! What is a boysenberry? It is a berry that is a hybrid of: raspberry, blackberry, dewberry, and loganberry.

I took three of my sisters to the Taste of Boysenberry. (Please excuse the poor quality of my phone’s camera)

For those who have never been to a tasting event at Knott’s Berry far, here’s how it works. You buy a tasting card for each person that’s going to the event. They are $45 for adults (12+) and $25 for kids (3-11), with a slight discount for season passholders. The tasting cards work as a ticket to the event and with the tasting card, each adult gets 5 tastings of their choice and children get 3 tastings of their choice.

Knott’s Berry Farm always goes all out in decorating their theme park for every holiday and this year was no exception. We went a few weeks before Easter and it was decorated with Easter things all over the park, especially Camp Snoopy, the part of the park that is dedicated to kids.

Here are some of the foods we tried. We tried to get a mix of beverages. desserts, and actual meals/food.

This was by far one of the best things that we tried. This is the carne asada pizza. One of the most popular items on the tasting card. The only thing I didn’t like was the cilantro. I would def get this again if it was offered.
I have a sweet tooth and was so excited to try both of these. On the left are the churro bites and on the right are the funnel fries. Both were very good, very sweet, but my personal favorite was the funnel fries. They both came with a side of dipping sauce.

Knott’s Berry Farm will be opening up again next month and as a season passholder, I can’t wait to go back and get on the rides. I am also looking forward to taking my 2 year old daughter with me to Camp Snoopy in a few months.

Knott’s Berry Farm Tasting Events 2020

In 2020, most of our travelling plans were cancelled. Many of us were no longer allowed to even visit theme parks. At least that’s the case for us in California, where our theme parks have been closed since Spring 2020. However, Knott’s Berry Farm, a local theme park In Buena Park, California, held multiple food events in 2020. I was lucky enough to have gone to two of them. I enjoyed them and ate so much good food and had fun with my family. I also felt safe thanks to all the safety precautions that was taken at Knott’s Berry Farm. The two I went to were Knott’s Taste of Fall-O-Ween and Knott’s Taste of Merry Farm. Here are some of my favorite foods that I got to taste at each event. (Also included some personal pics.)

Minion 5k Run

When I first heard that Universal Studios Hollywood was going to have a 5k, I was excited! This was going to be their first 5k. The theme for their first 5k was Minions.

We  got to run through Universal Studios including the Simpsons area, Harry Potter world, and best of all, the backlot where they film movies and do the studio tour. Parts of this course were a little bit tough because we had to run uphill. I used to run in Montebello which has a lot of hills, but now where I run, it’s very flat. It was fun getting to run by where they filmed movies like Jaws, as well as movies like The Grinch Who Stole Christmas.

My only complaint is that we had to be there very early! In order to get free parking you had to be there by 530am, otherwise you would pay $20. I got there around 430am since I had to pick up my race shirt and bib.

I had fun running the 5k at Universal Studios. The next run at Universal Studios Hollywood will be on November 16, 2019. The theme will be Jurassic World. I have not signed up yet, but I will sign up soon!
