Thinx Review

One thing people can do to help the environment is to use Thinx. What are Thinx? Thinx are basically period underwear. When you wear Thinx, you don’t have to wear pads or tampons, unless you have a heavy flow. They have different types of underwear, from thongs to hiphuggers to cheeky. I bought hiphugger, sporty, and cheeky. I wasn’t a fan of the cheeky ones, but the others were very comfortable. They were all very effective. Once you change out of them, you can just wash them with your laundry. Some people might think they are a bit pricey, they range from $24 up to almost $40. I bought them when they had their 30% off sale. I think they are a good investment. They will last you a long time and save you money because you won’t need to keep buying pads or tampons. The best thing is that you will help the environment by not having as much waste.

9 Months Into No New Clothes Challenge

We are now into September and I have really surprised myself at how well I am doing on this no new clothes challenge. The only clothes I am allowed to buy during this time is socks, underwear, and bras, all of which are necessities. Other than these items, I have bought myself only one item of clothing and that was a pair of running shorts that were around $11 and I needed them to run. I am not upset about that because it was a purchase that I made intentionally and I shopped around to get a good deal.

The biggest reason I have been able to do this is because I am part of a Buy Nothing group. A buy nothing group is a group in a local neighborhood where members give away items they no longer need, such as clothing, food, furniture, toys, etc. It is a way to help each other out, as well as prevent more trash from going to landfills. I have been given a lot of clothes from here, including pants for work, dresses, shirts, etc. I am so grateful for them and it has helped me save money on myself.

Since I have made it this far without spending much money on myself on new clothes, I believe that I can go the rest of the year without buying myself new clothes.

August Goals Recap

I was very disappointed in myself. I set some very easy goals for myself in August, but didn’t accomplish most of my goals sadly. Here is a quick recap.

  1. Run 10 miles- FAIL I didn’t run a single mile in August, second month in a row with 0 miles

2. Read 3 books- PASS, I read a few books during August

3. Post 3 times on my blog – FAIL I only posted ONCE in August

4. Sell 25 items either on my website or Etsy – sadly, this was also a FAIL. Didn’t sell 25 items last month

5. Be active at least twice a week, this could include running, walking, or using the arc trainer – FAIL, Didn’t do a single workout last month

Only met 1 goal out of 5. Hoping to do better this month

August Goals

The last few weeks have been pretty busy and stressful for me to be honest. I have working on my small business, Athena Rose, as much as possible. However, this is really difficult to do as a single mom of a wild and curious toddler and someone who is still working outside of the home during this pandemic. I am trying to give myself a mental break and not add even more stress to my life, so I plan to keep my goals small this month.

  1. Run 10 miles
  2. Read 3 books
  3. Post 3 times on my blog
  4. Sell 25 items either on my website or Etsy
  5.  Be active at least twice a week, this could include running, walking, or using the arc trainer
