My Reaction to Real Madrid’s Champions League SF Loss to Bayern Munich

I was cleaning up and I found this written in one of my many notebooks. I had written it minutes after finding out that Real Madrid lost to Bayern Munich in the Champions League SF, in one of the worse ways- a penalty shootout.

April 25th, 2012

There are no words to describe what I’m feeling right now. We were so close! What happened to “Por La Decima”?!? How could we lose??? I mean, we won at home, but it went to penalties! I HATE penalties!!! My heart has broken into a million pieces! I’m crushed! I’m sure no one here would understand, but millions of Madridistas around the world are heartbroken and crying their eyes out! I got that out of my system, now I’m just in shock, somewhat numb. Well, at least Barcelona lost too. Silver lining. Iker is still the best keeper in the world, Cristiano is the best player in the world and Real Madrid is the best club in the world. Hala Madrid!!!!

As you can see, I was a little overdramatic haha but it was painful, I mean Madrid was so close! Well, maybe this season they will win La Decima

Thoughts on This Season’s Transfers

Well, you all read what I had to say about Esteban Granero’s transfer from Real Madrid to QPR. That was probably the hardest transfer for me. Before this, I had never experienced one of my favorite players leaving my club. Here are my thoughts on some other transfers. I guess I can start with the good transfers.

Good

Lass- Well, it’s about time! This is what most Madridistas were saying. I’ve met him and sure he seems like an okay person, but he wasn’t good enough for Madrid. His mistakes cost up points at times. He finally transferred to a Russian club for lots of money.

Afellay- I’ve been a fan of his for a while now. Yes, I think he’s cute, but I also think he’s a good player. However, I hated that he played for Barcelona and was hoping he’d leave, even if it was only a loan. Well, I got my wish. Not only did he leave Barcelona (on loan) but he went to a club I support Schalke! When I heard the news, I was thrilled 🙂

Bocanegra- He joined Rangers and did well with them. But then they ran into financial trouble and ended up in the lowest tier in the Scottish league. So I was hoping he would leave and go to a better club. Luckily, he was able to move to a Spanish club. Yes, it’s Spain’s second division, but it’s still a good league. I just hope he takes it easy on the Castilla players when he plays against them! haha

Dempsey- It was a long and ugly summer for him. He wanted to go to Liverpool, but they weren’t willing to pay what Fulham was asking. It looked like he was going to stay at Fulham, when out of nowhere, Spurs ended up signing him. I thought this was great for him, I think he has a better chance of playing in Champions League with Spurs.

Bad

I’ve already mentioned Granero, but here are some other transfers that I didn’t really like.

Modric & Essien- I put these two together because they both joined Madrid this season. If Madrid had kept granero, I don’t think they would’ve bought Essien. As for Modric, I was a fan when he played for Spurs, but then he joined Real Madrid and is one of the reasons Granero left. I guess you can say I’m really not a fan of his anymore.

Zlatan- He’s one of my favorite players. I loved watching him with Milan, but this summer he went to PSG, which was very disappointing. Seems like everyone is leaving AC Milan this season. I guess it’s a good thing I waited on buying his jersey earlier this year.

Javi Martinez-I think he’s good for Spain NT and he was great for Athletic. yes, he deserved a bigger club, but why Bayern Munich?!? That’s my 3rd least favorite club, for obvious reasons (they beat Madrid in CL SFs and in Bundesliga, I support Schalke)

Losing Pirata

It’s been a few days since I found out that Esteban Granero, aka Pirata, was leaving Real Madrid to join Queens Park Rangers (QPR). Ngl, it still kind of hurts. Not as much as it did the first day though. The day before I found out he was leaving, I saw a QPR jersey, when I was on my way to class. I found it strange because after all, who watches QPR, let alone wears their jersey? At least in LA, I didn’t think anyone knew them. Later on, I realized that must have been a sign.

I didn’t find out about his transfer right away though. My phone had been off for aboout a week and I don’t have my laptop. In order to go on twitter, I had to go to the East LA library. Before going on twitter, I checked my email. That’s how I found out that Real Madrid had won the Super Copa against Barcelona the day before. I was so happy! Sure it was a meaningless trophy, but they beat Barcelona!!! lol So I went on twitter and I saw a tweet that said, oh Arbeloa’s tweet made me very sad. I was curious, so I went over to the twitter king’s profile to see his tweet. When I saw what it said i was like no way!!! I searched on twitter and sure enough, Granero to QPR was official.

I’m not the kind of person to show my emotions…like ever…unless I’m happy lol And i absolutely NEVER cry for anything else death of a very close family member. Well, there are 3 occasions where i have cried for football reasons. 1. When Mexico beat the US 4-2 in the 2011 Gold Cup final, I wasn’t sad though, just angry and frustrated. 2. When Bayern Munich beat Real Madrid in the penalty shootout of the Champions League semifinal and 3. when I found out Pirata was leaving Real Madrid.

Don’t get me wrong. I love that he will get way more playing time in QPR, but I will still miss seeing him in Madrid. Not only was he a great player, I loved his Madridismo.  I wish him good luck and hope he shows everyone why so many of us love him, not only as a player, but as a person.

LA Galaxy- Spurs game

As most of you might know by now, I’m a Manchester City fan. This doesn’t mean that I don’t enjoy watching other EPL teams every now and then. One of those teams is Tottenham Hotspur aka Spurs.

My favorite Spurs player is Gareth Bale. I’ve heard/read some of the things people have said about him, they say he’s a diver, he lied about being injured to get out of the Olympics( maybe he was

just upset about David Beckham not being called up, so he was protesting! lol kidding of course) and I’ve seen people make fun of his appearance. But IDC because I think he’s a great player and very

adorable with his rosy cheeks and his new haircut =P lol

Well, it was awesome getting to see Bale play (in person). It was also cool to see Walker (he’s so fast!)and OMG, I got to see AVB!!! AHH, he’s seriously the most attractive football manager! lol The game was pretty good, I got to see Bale score a goal 🙂 and guess who score for LA Galaxy? Lopes! hahaha yes, I’m serious =P lol The game ended in a 1-1 draw, I’m pretty happy I went to that game.
