I started watching tennis back in 2012 and every year I try to watch the four major tournaments, which are Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and the U.S.Open.
One of my all time favorite tennis players is Roger Federer. He has such an amazing style of play. Off the court he is know for being very classy and spends time and money helping out different charities.
Roger Federer, winner of the 2018 Australian Open, was my top pick for the men’s side. My other choices were Juan Martin del Potro and Grigor Dimitrov. As usual, many people doubted he could win,but he has been dealing with this for many years now. Even when people lose faith in him, he’s always my number one pick in any tournament he enters.
This is Federer’s 6th Australian Open title and 20th major title overall. He had to beat Marin Cilic, from Croatia, in order to get this title. This isn’t the first time these two met. They also met in the 2017 Wimbledon final, which Federer also won. Cilic played well, but was no match for Federer.
I didn’t watch the final live because it was on at midnight, but I watched the next morning and Federer was just unbelievable. Crazy to think that while Federer is 36 years old and still winning championships, many other tennis players retired at a much younger age than him. He shows that you can still be good at what you do, no matter what your age is.
