The End of My No Buy Clothes Year

One good thing that happened in 2020 for me was that I did really well in my “no buy clothes” year. I did buy some socks, underwear, and 1 bra, but those are necessities. The one item I did buy was a pair of shorts from Amazon for less than $15. I feel great about that, In know I saved a lot of money thanks to my challenge. I am considering doing this again in 2021 because I really feel like I can do even better next year. I only do this challenge for myself because I have so much clothes. I exclude my daughter from this challenge because she is still growing and needs clothes.

Zero Waste Bathroom

In the past year or so, I have been learning about the zero waste movement. The easiest place to start eliminating plastic or making zero waste changes in is the bathroom. Here are my zero waste changes that I have made.

Shampoo in a plastic bottle to a shampoo bar

Store bought face scrub to handmade face scrub

Here are some not so zero waste items that I am still using. However, once I finish them, I do plan to use zero waste alternatives, if I am able to find them.

Plastic razor to resuable safety razor

Face cleanser in plastic container to facial soap bar

Shaving cream bought from the store to handmade shave bar

Not pictured, I also stopped using disposable menstrual pads and started using reusable cloth pads and period underwear for that time of the month.

All of these swaps are not only good for the environment, but are also good for my wallet.

No More Goals for 2020

I won’t be setting any specific goals for November and December. We are still in a pandemic and honestly, 2020 has been such a tough year for most people, myself included. I do plan to read books, run, and write in this blog, but I won’t add any unnecessary pressure on myself to read a certain number of books or run a certain number of miles. I have ran once this month so far and it felt great! I have also been reading regularly and have enjoyed the books I have read. I do hope to improve more on writing in this blog. I haven’t been doing that consistently. I have no excuse, I have just been a bit lazy. I have been working on Athena Rose, which is the bath, body, and skincare line I founded last year. I am hoping that by the end of 2021, I can provide for my family with just that business.
