Quarter 4 2023 Goals

Here are some goals for the last three months of 2023. I am expecting the next few months to be very busy with me especially now that I’m working 30+ hours every week. So I am setting a few goals, but not setting high expectations.

  1. Run 50 miles
  2. Read 10 books
  3. Pay off phone
  4. Pay off dentist bill
  5. Visit Solvang during Christmas
  6. Go to the LA Zoo
  7. Have a picnic at park with my daughter
  8. Go to Knott’s Merry Farm
  9. Visit a pumpkin patch
  10. Visit Disneyland during the holiday season

Quarter 3 2023 Goals

Setting quarterly goals for me is pretty tough. Here’s a list of a few things I would like to do July 2023 through September 2023.

  1. Vacation with my family
  2. Read 30 books
  3. Run 30 miles
  4. Run a 10 mile run
  5. Go to the beach with my daughter
  6. Go to LA Zoo with my daughter
  7. Post more often on YouTube
  8. Visit multiple splash pads
  9. Learn how to make rice
  10. Visit the library once a week
  11. Learn how to make bread
  12. Start Selena’s Sweets again
  13. Start selling Athena Rose products again
  14. Solo Disneyland day
  15. Solo Knott’s day
  16. Solo Universal Studios day
  17. Disneyland with my daughter
  18. Knott’s Berry Farm with my daughter
  19. Have a picnic at the park
  20. Take my daughter to the movies

Quarter 2 Goals recap

I’m not going to lie, I didn’t do so well with these goals for the second quarter (April-June).

  1. Save $1,000 * Yes, I did this
  2. Run 50 miles x Not even close
  3. Read 25 books * I read a little more than 25 books
  4. Cut back on using phone * I have finally cut back on using my phone
  5. Cut back on watching tv/streaming services *I rarely watch streaming services now
  6. Go on 3 hikes x Sadly I didn’t get to go on any hikes
  7. Go to the beach x Didn’t do this either
  8. LA County Fair with my daughter * Went once with her and it was so fun
  9. Run 1 mile in under 10 minutes x Didn’t accomplish this
  10. Run/walk 5 times a week x Nope
  11. Post on YouTube reguarly x Also nope
  12. Start selling treats for Selena’s Sweets x Yet another goal I didn’t accomplish

No Instagram or TikTok for 30 Days

I didn’t use Instagram or TikTok for 30 days. Giving up TikTok was easy, but I definitely missed Instagram. I’m so used to posting everything there. Anytime I went somewhere, I reached for my phone and was ready to post a picture until I remembered that I had deleted the app.

I decided to take a break because I felt like I was wasting my time using these two apps. It was hard at first. Some people can handle having the apps on their phones and resist using them, but I knew I needed to deleted them completely from my phone.

Once my 30 days were up, I installed both again. However, within 2 days, I deleted the TikTok app because I could see it was just a waste of time for me. That was 2 weeks ago and I honestly don’t miss it at all. I did keep Instagram and do use it, but not as often as before. I’ll go on for about 5-10 minutes and then find other things to do.

When I first gave up both of these apps, I turned to YouTube and noticed I was spending way too much time on YouTube and playing games. It’s hard to find screen free things to do especially with the crazy weather we had last month in California. We had so many cold and rainy days, all I wanted to do was stay inside and be on my phone or tablet. Now that the weather is getting better, I plan to spend more time outside, whether it’s going for a hike, walk, run, or taking my daughter to the park.

I feel like I can still improve my screen time and phone usage. I am not where I want to be yet, but I am getting better and better at it.
