First Match of the Season

On Tuesday, I went to the LA Galaxy v Tijuana Xolos preseason friendly. What a match! LA Galaxy won 6-2. Yes, Tijuana was using their reserves (their senior/first team was playing in a Copa Libertadores) but in the second half, when LA scored 4 goals, they were also using their reserve team.

I went to the game with my sister Angelina, as a birthday present. She turns 7 on Saturday. I also went with my grandpa, who said this was his first real live football match ever! I’m so glad I’ve been able to take so many people to their first live football match (my mom, stepdad, 3 sisters, brother, and now my grandpa. Oh also, my friend from tennis) Next person-my grandma lol Well, we were surrounded by Tijuana fans, of course

When they played both national anthems, me and my sister were the only ones who sang the Star Spangled Banner. When they introduced the players, we weren’t alone in shouting the last names of the players, there was about 4 people who yelled their names behind us. Of course every time LA scored, and we had to say their names, only like 5 of us were shouting their names haha but it was fun.

The one thing that wasn’t super fun was the weather! It doesn’t rain often here in California, but when it does, it pours! First half wasn’t so bad, second half however, omg! It started pouring and it even hailed a little bit. It was windy, so that didn’t help. We were freezing out there! Despite all this, I enjoyed the game. But then again, who wouldn’t enjoy seeing their team win 6-2, even under all the circumstances? haha Too bad this might be my last LA Galaxy game for a long time! Maybe even until Portland game in July.

Poor Iker!

When I first heard that Iker Casillas had been subbed out of a match due to injury, I was thinking, I hope it’s not serious! Then I found out that he’s out for 2-3 months! There goes Champions League! Which means that I will lose the bet I made with one of my coworkers. Oh well, it’s only $30. but Omg, poor Iker! =( We need him! Not only because he’s the best keeper in the world, but he’s our captain! Animo Iker!

Bundesliga is Back!

Yes! Finally! I can watch German football again! It feels like I haven’t watched Schalke (my German club), Hannover (Cherundolo’s club), or Hoffenheim (Joselu and Johnson’s club) in forever! I think a winter break is what Schalke needed. They started off the season really well, they were in second place behind Bayern Munich, by like 2 or 3 points. I don’t know what happened, but by the end of November, beginning of December, they were in seventh place and behind by more than 15 points! So disappointing. I hope they get a win on Friday (sorry Dolo!)

Esteban Granero in London

Pirata 😥

unamadridista's avatarfollowing Real Madrid...

Marca recently interviewed everyone’s favorite pirate, Esteban Granero (so far, it hasn’t been published on the web site) and he had some wonderful things to say about his beloved club and his beloved idol (hint: his initials are X.A.).  Here are my favorite parts.

How are you [in English]?

(Laughs) Very good, thanks [in English].

How are you doing with speaking English?

I came in at a good level and now I believe I have improved a bit, especially my footballing vocabulary.  I can do interviews in English and all that, so good.
