The Move

Last week, I moved from the city I lived in for almost 10 years into a new neighborhood. We have been at our new home for about a week now. For the most part, I do enjoy our new neighborhood. I love having so many healthy supermarkets close by, Sprouts, Trader Joe’s, and Whole Foods. This area seems really nice. I am close to Pasadena now. The downside is that my commute to work is much longer now. Before I could get to work in 5-10 minutes. Now it takes me at least 20 minutes to get to work. I also don’t like that our new house doesn’t have any ceiling fans and my room doesn’t even have a closet. I had to get rid of so many of my things because my room was too small for all my belongings.

Disney Princess Races

The night before the 10k race, I told myself that I would try to be asleep by 9pm in order to wake up at 3am to be at Epcot parking lot on time. That did not happen. It was really difficult for me to sleep so early, especially given the time difference. By trying to go to sleep at 9pm, it was like trying to go to sleep at 6pm! Plus, I was a bit scared of spending the night in a different state by myself, so that didn’t help. I eventually fell asleep around 11pm or so. I woke up a little before 3 am. I had scheduled an uber to pick me up at 330am, so right at that time, I went outside. I got the message that they were on their way. However, after waiting outside for 15 minutes, the driver cancelled! I was so mad. Had to request another uber and waited an extra 15-20 minutes.

10k
For the 10k race, I was in corral B. Although I have done many 10k races before, I was still pretty nervous about this one. Mainly because I had heard so many bad things about the Disney Princess races. I did much better than expected though. I finished in 1:04 hours. However, I didn’t end up stopping for any character stops. After the race was over, i did take a few pictures. I took pictures with both Ariel and my favorite Disney princess, Belle.

Half Marathon
For the half marathon, I was in corral C. This time, I made sure to try to stop for as many character stops as I could. I got to the Epcot parking lot around 330am. Since I was so early, I was able to take a picture with Anna from Frozen! I waited about an hour in line. After that was over, I went to the corrals. There were so many people! I think at least 15,000+ people ran/walked the Princess half marathon.

So I ended up running my second slowest time ever, 2:36 hours! But it didn’t matter because I had fun. I took pictures with at least 5-7 characters.

Boysenberry Festival 2018

I went to Knott’s Berry Farm with my sister for the Boysenberry Festival. We went after I got out of work. I knew it would be crowded, but wasn’t expecting it to be as bad as it was. It was spring break for many schools, which explains why the parking lot was almost completely full when we got there a little after 2pm. I’m sure the fact that Disneyland keeps raising their prices also led more people to go to Knott’s Berry Farm. I wasn’t too bothered though, since we only went to Knott’s to try out the food. We happened to go on Boysenberry Day, April 3, 2018. They were giving out buttons to everyone who went. This might have been another reason that Knott’s was so crowded.

This year was my fourth year going to the Boysenberry Festival at Knott’s Berry Farm. It is my favorite time of the year to go to Knott’s. I bought the tasting card again this year. The tasting card is $30 and it allows you to try a variety of things. It is definitely worth it to buy. You get to try things that you wouldn’t have otherwise bought. Here are the things I tried.

Boysenberry Boba- 6/10
I love drinking boba. This was a little bit disappointing for me. It wasn’t bad, but the boba balls at the bottom weren’t very soft. Also, the boysenberry taste was too subtle and it ended up tasting bland.

Boysenberry Chicken Wings- 10/10
The boysenberry chicken wings are the best. They use Boysenberry bbq sauce on the winga, but they aren’t too sweet . These are a family favorite.

Boysenberry Ribs- 8/10
The ribs were good. A bit greasy, but good. These were made with beef rather than pork. The rice mixed with the ribs were good , esp because the ribs were very tender.

Boysenberry Pierogis- 8/10
First time ever trying pierogis. I thought they were good. The pierogis had cheddar cheese inside and came with a side of grilled onions and smoked bacon. I especially loved the boysenberry sour cream. I would love if these were offered at Knott’s year round.

Boysenberry Elote- 9/10
I love eating elote aka corn on the cob so I was very excited to try this. It was really good. I liked the boysenberry butter and boysenberry mayo. My only complaint is that they put too much of the cheese, which im not a fan of.

Sausage on a Bun-5/10
Disappointed by this. The sausage itself was ok, but I didn’t like the fact that they only had relish and mustard as condiments. There was no ketchup or mayo.

Forgot to take a pic of this

Boysenberry Coconut Macaroon-9/10
I love coconut and boysenberry and I have a sweet tooth. This was one of my favorite treats.

Boysenberry Icee Float- 10/10
This was my favorite thing I tried. The icee float came with boysenberry icee and they put boysenberry ice cream on top of that! It took me a while to finish but it was so good!

Boysenberry Hummus with Pita Bread-7/10
I am such a big fan of hummus, but this was disappointing. I also didn’t like the fact that they grilled the pita bread.

Boysenberry Quesadilla-7/10
The quesadillas were good. I wish they would have given us boysenberry sour cream rather than just plain sour cream. The salsa was good, but too spicy for me. I like the fact that the quesadillas were purple. Didn’t like the cotija cheese that was used for the quesadillas.

Boysenberry Jelly Beans-10/10
Jelly beans are my favorites. These were really good. Perfect for anyone who has a sweet tooth like me.

Some other things I bought were boysenberry butter (which I haven’t tried yet), boysenberry lip balm (smells really good), and a boysenberry festival shirt that came with a collector’s pin (which is great because I collect pins). We didn’t go on any rides, but since we have the annual season pass, it wasn’t such a big deal. We really did only go for the food. Next year, I plan to go to Boysenberry Festival at least twice. It was fun for me to try new things and eat favorites.

Meatless March Results

I decided to take part in Meatless March once again. I went 31 days without eating any red meat (pork or beef), poultry, and seafood. This was my second time doing this. I took part in Meatless March for the first time in 2017. For the most part, it was not too difficult, though I did cheat twice. I ate chicken once and red meat once.

Something I did during Meatless March was run the LA Marathon as a vegetarian. By that point, I had been a vegetarian for about three weeks. I felt good, didn’t feel like if I was deprived of anything and I had plenty of energy. I was able to finish my second marathon in approx 5 hours and 13 mins.

One good thing about taking part in Meatless March was the fact that it forced me to be more open minded and try food that I would never have tried before. When I went to San Diego, I ate pizza with artichoke and jalapenos. I had never tasted jalapenos or artichokes before .

I wouldn’t have been able to get through Meatless March if it wasn’t for the many options I had for mock meats.  My favorite brands that I tried were Gardein, they made the best meatless chicken wings, and Morning Star, they make good meatless burgers.

Towards the end of the month, I admit I started getting lazy and didn’t cook much for myself. So I spent most of the last week waking up with low energy and headaches.

Since Meatless March ended, I have begun eating meat again. However, I don’t eat pork and eat beef very rarely. For the most part, I mainly eat chicken. I do plan to become vegetarian eventually and maybe even vegan (someone who eats absolutely no animal products). I liked how I felt during the time when I wasn’t eating meat.

Unrequited Crush/Love

Have you ever liked someone who didn’t share your feelings? Many of us have had a crush on someone who didn’t feel the same way about us. Maybe it was a classmate, coworker, friend, or ex boyfriend/girlfriend. This is an unrequited crush/love. Unrequited love is a one-sided love or crush. Sometimes the person is aware of the persons feelings. However, sometimes the person with the romantic feelings keeps their crush to themselves for fear of rejection or feeling like they are not good enough for their crush.

Growing up, I was very shy and was so bad at talking to people, especially any guy I had a crush on. I always had a crush on someone, but before I never felt like I was good enough or pretty enough, I never talked to any of the guys that I liked. In fact, I didn’t date at all during middle school or high school. Looking back, I wish I had been more confident and maybe I could’ve enjoyed high school more.

Even now as an adult I’ve had crushed on guys who didn’t like me back. Sometimes I get over the crushes pretty quickly, other times I have trouble doing that. In fact, I even left my job to get over a crush. Luckily for me this did work for me. I no longer saw him and my feelings went away. How do you get over an unrequited crush? The best thing to do is get some distance from them. If this isn’t possible, the next best thing to do is try to think of all their flaws or why they aren’t good for you. Here are some pics I found on Pinterest that Some people can relate to. I know I related to these when I had an unrequited crush.

Here is one very important thing to remember.

Some songs
1. Make Me Like You- Gwen Stefani
2. Can’t Remember to Forget You-Shakira

3. I Can’t Make You Love Me If You Don’t – Bonnie Raitt

4. Creep- Radiohead

5. Sitting, Waiting, Wishing – Jack Johnson
